Delta Lends a Hand to Community Partner Mission First with Day of Service

Our central Mississippi division and corporate office staff participated in a Day of Service with community partner Mission First the first weekend of March. Mission First is a ministry of First Baptist Jackson that seeks to transform the community through the power of Jesus, providing a variety of services: a medical and dental clinic, legal aid office, early learning center, afterschool and summer care programming.  Mission First meets these needs with the financial and volunteer support from organizations who care like Delta Industries.

Utilizing Delta’s volunteerism policy, Delta employees gathered on a Saturday morning and tackled Mission First’s project list with eager hands, contributing 90 volunteer hours. Projects included landscaping, building cabinetry, painting walls, cleaning and organizing cupboards and more. The Day of Service and Delta’s volunteerism policy embodies one of Delta’s core values, “to Love our Communities and Families” and supports our community engagement initiative: “Building Stronger Communities.”

In addition to our Day of Service efforts, we are excited to announce that we have a Family Fun Day scheduled for October. This event will be a celebration of our partnership with Mission First and an opportunity for our Delta families and Mission First families to come together for a day of fellowship and fun. There will be games, bounce houses, and other activities for all ages to enjoy. It’s another way we’re reinforcing our commitment to loving our communities and families. Stay tuned for more details as the event approaches!
